Chika Takano is a pediatrician specializing in inherited metabolic disorders at Nihon University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. After earning her MD in 2011, she joined the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health in 2013 and has been involved in both clinical care and translational research. She conducted research on human amniotic epithelial cells (hAECs) during her scholarship at the University of Southern California in 2018 and obtained her PhD in Medicine from Nihon University in 2019. Currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Microbiology, her research focuses on developing hAEC-based therapies for inherited metabolic disorders.
