I am a neurologist with a career dedicated to research, teaching, and institutional development. I completed my medical degree at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), followed by residency training in internal medicine and clinical neurology at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery “Dr. Manuel Velasco Suárez” in Mexico. I pursued a subspecialty in cerebrovascular diseases at the NIH in Bethesda, MD, USA, obtained a PhD in Applied Molecular Medicine from Universidad San Pablo-CEU in Madrid, and earned a Master’s degree in Molecular Medicine with emphasis on oxidative damage. Currently, I serve as Director of the Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Zambrano Hellion TecSalud Medical Center, where I lead initiatives in clinical care, research, and education. I am also a member of the Research Group on Biomarkers and Advanced Therapies, developing projects on biomarkers, growth factors in cerebrospinal fluid, and cell-based therapies for neurodegenerative disorders such as ALS and Parkinson’s disease. More than 15 years ago, I led one of the first stem cell implantation projects in Mexico, where we achieved remarkable results that demonstrated the potential of regenerative medicine in neurology. Since then, I have continued to promote innovative strategies, including the creation of specialized centers such as Mexico’s first ALS Clinic.
