Dr. Huang is currently a Distinguished Professor at Taipei Medical University (TMU) and serves as the Editor-in-Chief for The ACTO Times, the publication of the Asia Cellular Therapy Organization (ACTO). She has an impressive background, having previously held the positions of Dean of the Office of Research and Development at TMU and CEO of the TMU Research Center for Cell Therapy and Regeneration Medicine (TMU CCTRM). With a career span of over 25 years, Dr. Huang has dedicated herself to the fields of stem cell regenerative medicine and cellular therapy, with a particular focus on the interaction between the niche microenvironment and cell fate regulation in cell and stem cell translational medicine. Her contributions to cellular therapy and regenerative medicine are significant. During her tenure as Dean of Research and Development and CEO of the TMU Research Center, she led teams in conducting cell therapy clinical trials to address unmet medical needs, including ARDS, ALS, dental implantation, and cancers. In 2018, to educate future global talent in the field of cell and gene therapy (CGT), Dr. Huang established the "International PhD Program in Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine" at TMU (TMU IPCTRM). The program has successfully attracted over 35 PhD students from different countries.
Dr. Huang has an outstanding research record in advanced cell and gene therapy. She has received prestigious national awards, including the National Distinguished Teaching Award from the Ministry of Education in Taiwan in 2019 and the National Innovation Award for five consecutive years from 2019 to 2025, and the 2025 Future Tech Award. She has been honored with the TMU Award of Distinguished Professor three times consecutively since 2016, the TMU Excellence in Research, Teaching, and Administration Award twice, and the Outstanding Basic Research Award for Cancer Medicine from the Chinese Oncology Society in Taiwan.
Dr. Huang is actively involved in both international and domestic academic committees and review boards. Her roles include serving on the International Project Review Board of the Food and Health Bureau of the Government of the HKSAR in Hong Kong, the Project Review Board of The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance, and the MOST Re-examination Committee Board, as well as the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) Project Review Board. She is dedicated to promoting stem cell research and cell therapy in Taiwan and is a committee member of the BioTaiwan Committee, Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW)/Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA), and the MOEA. Additionally, Dr. Huang is actively engaged in professional societies, holding executive director positions in the Taiwan Society for Stem Cell Research (TSSCR), the Taiwan Association for Cell Therapy (TACT), and the Taiwan Society for Mechanobiology (TSMB).
Furthermore, Dr. Huang holds significant editorial roles in prestigious journals and is a member of the review boards for over 20 top-ranking international academic journals. She currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief for The ACTO Times, the publication of the Asia Cellular Therapy Organization, and as an Associate Editor for the international journal Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology. Additionally, she is a columnist for Taiwan's largest Wealth Magazine. Dr. Huang's extensive contributions and leadership in stem cell research and cell therapy highlight her expertise and commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and medical applications in this field.
