Valentina Russo is a Full Professor of Anatomy at the University of Teramo. She serves as the Coordinator of the PhD Program in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnologies.
Her research is focused on improved understanding of stem cell biology, in particular of amniotic epithelial stem cells (AECs), and the interface of biology with materials science. She also focuses mechanisms of action in tendon regenerative medicine applications and on the in-depth study of the mechanisms involved in tendon disease and regeneration through preclinical (i.e. mice and sheep model) and vet clinical trials (i.e. horses) for tendon healing in species of veterinary interest with translational potential in humans.
She is Principal investigator of funded national (PRIN, FIRB, PNRR) and European (H2020-MSCA) research projects.
